The recent presentation cabaret to wind up the 2021/22 season saw 30 members honoured with club medals acknowledging long service – ranging from 20 years and upwards in increments of ten – until the lone 50-year medal awarded to Lyle Taberner, our longest serving member.

Apart from his amazing contribution off the green as a plumber when the club was in its infancy, Lyle’s on-green achievements are of legendary status. He has won the club singles on five occasions; pairs nine times, plus the triples, mixed pairs and fours twice.

Then there’s success at association and group/region level, where he has flown the Karingal flag to gold on no fewer that 30 occasions, including the 1992 Champion of Champions; five singles crowns and 12 pairs titles, plus more

And for the trivia buffs – Lyle has represented us in pennant on more than a thousand occasions – an association record.
